Peacock Pavilions – a fashionable stay in Marrakech
THE STORY: Hotel Hotspot – Peacock Pavilions Marrakech
Marrakech was on try travel wishlist since a long long time but this year i finally made it to visit this beautiful place for my first time in April. I say first time because I’m sure it wont be the last time this year.
WHAT MAKES MARRAKECH SO INSPIRING TO US VENUS-WORLD-INVADERS?
I dont know why but before visiting this city i thought that Marrakech is a women’s place. Or let’s exagerate: a heaven for all women on this earth. At least all the women I’ve talked too described it like that. All the man i’ve talked too weren’t as satisfied as women when they came back from Marrakech. Is it the old Sex & and the City film that makes women go crazy when they think about that city? Or is there really something that is so inspiring to us venus-world-invaders?
Well, as I already told you im dreaming about Marrakech since a long long time and now im thirty and hey, i finally booked the flight and yesss, me and my supercool mum, we are going to Marrakech – to finally get that Sex & and the City feeling in the city and in the desert.
As usual i do all my bookings and holiday-plannings by myself and i tried to find the latest hotspots of Marrakech on the web to don’t miss a little thing about this atmospheric city. And I guess with my reservation at Peacock Pavilions I really found of the most fabulous places to stay in Marrakech. It’s not a Riad, it’s not a Hotel, its something in between and even much much more!
IT’S NOT A HOTEL, IT’S NOT A RIAD, IT’S SOMETHING IN BETWEEN…
Peacock Pavilions is the idea of Maryam Montague, mother, designer, writer, blogger. She cares about human rights and with her husband she built such a beautiful eco-friendy-home outside of the city where you can stay and relax in an olive grove outside of the busy Marrakech.
Eco-friendly Hotels have become very big in the last years and i guess in all your heads eco-friendly has become also designy and fashionable. At least I hope so. If not, visit Peacock Pavilions and they will polish your head and show you what eco-friendly means nowadays!
The architecture of Maryams Peacock Pavilions is inspired by a traditional riad design, but inside you will find a mix of all-over-the-world, of course, including also many marrocan-things! Those maroccan things are mixed together in such a cool and free way – that before seeing it you think that this could’nt work- but hey, it works! Maryam mixes everything with everything – Everything goes – mostly on white walls. Im sure nobody could imagine such a mix-and-match at home, but after leaving you will think about putting that green cushion with the pink vase and the yellow tiles together ;-)!
Maryam decides also very often to put many many objects of the same size one next to the other one: something that works perfectly! You could do the same at home with some pictures, old propaganda-flyers or other things.
GREAT STAY. GREAT STAFF. GREAT DESIGN.
We had all the Medina Pavilion for ourselves – wow! Since the other rooms in the Pavilion were not booked for our period we had the chance to choose between different rooms. That’s something where im getting nervous and hooorayyyy-hoorrayy. In the Pavilion you can find a big terrace on the rooftop to enjoy the sunset, a kitchen, different rooms and a big living room – everything surrounded by a wonderful garden full of white and pink roses and some always smiling gardeners!
The staff there is more than excellent – they work at Maryams place with heart and soul – I felt that already when I began to write with Michelle. I never wrote so many mails just to book a room for a 2-day-stay. I’m sorry Michelle, but you were so incredibly wonderful to me that I always had to write back.
Unfortunately I couldn’t meet Michelle in person at Peacock Pavilions but she had a wonderful substitute named Cait for her. Cait was truly amazing too. In this place you can not just feel every stunning and amazing detail in the rooms, no, you feel it everywhere and most of all in the staff that is working there.
Breakfast is included in the room price and it was okay. If I have to be honest, I expected two or three things more for breakfast. But I didnt even asked for something else – I just do always prefer a menu to read or a buffet to choose from instead of ordering just by telling.
But nevermind about the breakfast because our dinner at the dining tent of Peacock Pavilions was the BEST dinner I had in Marrakech! We had one tent only for ourselves and the dinner was marvelous – excellent – everything planned and decorated into the last detail. Actually it was more than excellent – i never ate so healthy and good in one night! (besides the bottle of wine, but we couldnt leave her there because the wine was excellent too!!!) I never felt so good in Marrakech as this night.
And hey, I was with my mom not even my boyfriend. If I had a boyfriend at that time im sure I wouldn’t even have left that tent for sleeping.
To go to the Medina or other interesting places in Marrakech you have to take a taxi. It takes about 20 minutes to reach all the places that are interesting for tourists and shopaholics. But, if you are looking for carpets, antiques, cushions or other wonderful things – just stay at Peacock Pavilions and Cait and the others will show you wonderful carpets & other things that Maryam is selling there. She has also a online store but seeing those things in real is totally different. And you can walk around for hours and hours in the crazy Medina and you wont find such individual and great things as Maryam sells.
HOW FABULOUS IS THIS PLACE?:
Everything at Peacock Pavilions in Marrakech was perfect. Im sure I will come back one time – maybe with a bunch of friends to relax for some days. Next time I would come to Peacock Pavilions just to relax after some city-rush-days to shop Maryams magazine empty and to have some wonderful wine and dinner at the tent. I wont use the trampoline anymore because I almost landed in the bushes of the neighbors ground. Ahah. Great stay. Great staff. Great design.
AT PEACOCK PAVILIONS YOU CAN RELAX IN AN ABSOLUTELY QUIET LOCATION. YOU ONLY HEAR PEACOCKS AND CATS DURING THE NIGHTTIME.
Bring a Bikini for daytime & a dress and a military jacket with some studs, strass and quirky details for the evenings at Peacock Pavilions.
